Too much to do, not enough time...

Man, do I really suck at keeping up with this thing.

I would update more often but real life keeps intruding on my computer time. So where do I begin on how things have gone since my last update?

My last surviving Grandparents died at opposite sides of the summer. That was tough enough but then I lost a good friend and workmate to suicide in the middle of it all. None of the deaths were easy when you know them well.

So much for the depressing stuff.

Dylan's sports have gone nearly full-circle since the last update. Baseball this last Spring was phenomenal, Dylan has really turned into a great baseball player to be only eight years old. His team ended up in second place for the season and he was chosen for the All Star team for the second time. I really have to give credit where due, if it wasn't for his head coach Dylan wouldn't have been nearly the ball player he turned into. I really look forward to next season. Maybe we can recapture a little of the magic if we can keep at least the infield intact from Spring. Next year will be first-year kid pitch and Dylan wants to be a pitcher. He has a great arm so this may be his true calling.

Football didn't go so well again, Dylan's size really works against him doing anything but working the offensive line. He never got a chance to show what he could do on defense. He is also a terrific passer but he will never get a fair chance to compete in Garland PeeWee football because it's a "coaches league". By that I mean that only the coaches kids get the prime positions and all the reps. That's OK, we will put him elsewhere next year if he still wants to play. By the time he is in high school only his ability will matter and I have little doubt that he will be the cream that rises to the top. So much for the "coach kids", few if any will make it that far.

Dylan has played Upward basketball for the last three years but this time he wanted to do something more competitive, so we went with Garland so he can play for his school. Yet again his size should work against him, but his shooting ability and superb defensive skills are his intangibles. He's so big he resembles Shaq when he runs around on the hardwood. He attended the Dallas Mavericks basketball camp last summer and one of the Mav's assistants said that Dylan is one of the best defensive players he has ever seen at that age. Pretty lofty praise from a guy that trains pros.
